the spacenamespace is built mostly using perl, with the RDF triplespace stored in mySQL. there is a RESTful interface to the model, which spits back RDF data in XML format.
so it is an aspect of the semantic web. the http interface is publically exposed, though not all elements of it are publically documented. the bot interface talks to the REST interface, and processes the results as XML. there is more info about what the REST interface provides specific to mudlondon
this is an example of the idea of information bot as a stateful conversational interface to an aspect of the semantic web. the bot lives on Instant Messenger systems, providing a familiar and prevalent interface, using jabber as a transport to other instant messaging systems; the author's Bot::JabberBot is on CPAN.
